Email Marketing
On this page I describe some examples of my experiences with email marketing for both B2B email marketing and B2C. I primarily used Mailchimp and Hubspot.
Travel Industry B2C Email Marketing
Generating 2-3 email marketing campaigns a week to segmented audiences played a key role in the success of flash sales in my marketing and leadership role for an online travel agency.
Primarily emails were sent from 2 brands: mainstream holiday brand and a ski holiday brand.
Product and merchandising played a key role in the success of the email campaigns. Each deal would be researched to ensure it was competitively prices, ideally with the best price available in the industry. Negotiation with suppliers to obtain exclusive offers was also key here.
Working with suppliers to identify areas of excess capacity enabled us to identify deals which could be discounted heavily and we became known as an outlet for distressed stock among a number of suppliers. Re-packaging such deals through rewriting copy, sourcing attractive destination images, and offering added value (e.g. FREE excursion) and highlighting discounts/savings generated countless successful campaigns and flash sales through direct email marketing and the likes of Travelzoo. The most successful Travelzoo email campaign generated £95,000 revenue in the first day (£250,000 in a week) from an ad spend of £7,500.
